This is the first poem I ever wrote and I would like to say thanks to the special Lady who brought it out with a simple question "What is your idea of a Soulmate" .. Thanks Dayle, even though we haven't met yet I consider you one of my Lifes Soulmates
Brother-Sister-Lover-Friend
A friendship starts with a gentle touch of the spirit, the mind.
They touch and begin to gently entwine.
Their spirits meet and they gently unwind
Ere so slowly, moving forward each with an open mind.
Their spirits connect and resist the urge..the urge to race.
They instinctively slow to a gentler pace.
They soar. Their spirits begin to entwine more and more.
They climb to the gates of Heaven, then turn towards earth's floor.
They coo. They cuddle. Their spirits touch an entwine
To begin a slow dance up each other's spine.
Slowly...gracefully they start to entwine once more.
Their spirits move upwards, both knowing what they seek is not lore.
They entwine in mind..in soul..and in spirit.
Two minds and souls now meld and think as one, then both hear it.
They look to the heavens and hear that it is done.
This entwining can now never be undone.
They lift their wings and soar to the Heavens higher and higher.
Till the earth below is but a blue sphere, neither tire.
They frolic and tumble..then suddenly collide
Plummeting out of control towards the sphere below not a single sound cried.
Wings furled, thought gone, they dive faster and faster
Heading undaunted for inevitable disaster.
In their now connected minds they sense the danger to the other,
Eyes open, wings start to flutter.
They glance to see their soul mate wake
They each spread their wings and soar again to Heaven's gate.
They touch the gate together and begin to circle back to their nest,
Suddenly, in the joy of flight, they collide breast to breast.
Each explodes in a million pieces to fall to earth scattered by the winds,
Were they brother - sister - lover - friends?
Or something other, souls alone yet connected. Soul mates together
A part of each other, the sum of the whole where all spirits gather
In spirit..in mind..in being..and in soul. They have joined as one
In a way so special that it can never be undone.
